1985, John Harding responded to changing customer needs and embarked on an
innovative renovation and fabrication project to widen and self-propel two
steel barges. The barges were cut apart
and pre-fabricated components were lifted and welded into position. Upon launching, the ferry was named the “FN #1”
and marked a new level of economical marine service on Williston Lake.
